OUR STORY
144 years in the making
Kroupa Ranch began in 1882, when the first generation settled on this land in central South Dakota. The early years were marked by long winters, hard work, and a deep respect for the cattle and soil that kept the family going.

More than a century later, that foundation remains unchanged. Today, the ranch is a living connection between generations - a place where the past is honored, the present is lived fully, and the future is being raised one season at a time.

Our cattle are built the same way our family works: steady, honest, and prepared for whatever the year brings. What began with a handful of Hereford cows has grown into a multi-branch operation rooted in Angus genetics and family stewardship. We raise functional registered and commercial Angus cattle with a focus on maternal strength, longevity, efficiency, and the real-world traits that matter to ranchers everywhere.
My Grandpa Otto always said,
"If you take care of the cows, they will take care of you."
I like that thought.
